It’s an old
news that Windows 10 will be available as a free download to Windows 7 and
Windows 8 users. This upgrade will be available to the users free of cost if
they will avail this upgrade offer within one year starting from July 29. Now
what if you don’t have Windows 8 or 7 and you want to get your hands on Windows
10?
According to
a new process highlighted by Microsoft in a new blog post, you can avail free
Windows 10 without Windows 7 or 8. If you are running the Insider Preview of
Windows 10, build number 10130, you will be able to get the final release build
on July 29 and further releases. Microsoft highlights that this version will be
genuine.
Right now if
you need to get a Windows 10 Preview build, you are automatically opted in to
the Insider Program. But as the release date comes nearer, the Insider program
for Windows 10 is changing. At the time of Windows 10 launch, you will have the
option to opt in the Insider Program and you will need a Microsoft Account
(MSA) that you will have to use in your Windows 10 PC.
Next Windows
10 Insider Preview update will prompt you to log in with the same credentials
you used in Windows 10 Insider Program Registration. Strangely enough, when
Windows 10 will be launched, you will be able to install Windows 10 Insider
Preview even without proper account credentials.
Confused?
Here’s the simple story: This loophole was spotted by Ars Technica, who pointed
out that anyone running the Insider Preview of Windows 10 Build 10130 before
July 29, will get a free upgrade. Subsequently you will get all the regular
updates.
So anybody
who upgrades to Windows 10 Insider Preview before July 29, will get a
guaranteed upgrade to Windows 10. So, if you want to avail the free Windows 10
(and not having Windows 7 or 8, or their genuine copy), I would recommend you
to install Windows 10 Preview as soon as possible.
